Aims & Scope

Syin & Sern Law Review, founded in 2020, is an international peer-reviewed journal covering different subject areas of law. The Law Review is published thrice a year, with each issue curated with a focus on consequential contemporary legal scholarships.
​
The Syin & Sern Law Review is a student-run organisation with a peer review panel. Its primary aim is to serve as a legal academic forum for students, academicians, lawyers, and judges. With this aim, the Law Review publishes the article by academicians, practitioners, lawyers and judges. The Law Review follows a rigorous and stringent editorial process to heighten and strengthen the tone of the legal scholarships.

The Law Review aims to reduce the gap in the demands of the current world and legal scholarship. The law review provides a platform to raise the issues of concern, critique legal topics and provides valuable in-depth research scholarships.

The Law Review is affiliated with students from Jindal Global Law School, National Law University-Delhi, National Law University, Odisha.

​Syin & Sern Law Review uses the Creative Commons licenses for the purpose of licensing. This provides information about how the readers can use the published content.

The Creative Commons clearly state that the 'For the avoidance of doubt, where Exceptions and Limitations apply to Your use, this Public License does not apply.'

Copyright Terms

The Syin & Sern Law Review allows the author to retain the copyright of their paper without any restrictions. The transfer of copyright posits an unnecessary issue for the author, and it only restricts open access. Thus, Syin & Sern Law Review promotes and states that the author retains the copyright of the work, that too, without any restriction.

Authors publishing with the Syin & Sern Law Review retains the copyright to their work, licensing provided under the Creative Commons Attribution License, which allows the author to copy, read and redistribute the work as long as the original work is cited correctly. Syin & Sern shall be referred to as the original publisher of the work.

Editorial Process
The Syin & Sern Law Review follows a strict and stringent editorial process with an aim to heighten and strengthen the tone and substance. The journal follows a double blind peer-review method. Any manuscript is firstly edited by the students in the following procedure- Copy Editor, Junior Editor, Senior Editor, Managing Editor, Deputy Chief Editor. After following the laid editorial process, the manuscripts are edited by the Faculty Editor(s) Editor-in-Chief, and finally followed by the Peer Review Panel.

Open Access Policy
​
All research articles published in the Syin & Sern Law Review are fully open access: immediately freely available to read, download, print, and share. The author's work is published under the terms of Creative Commons license which permits the author to hold the copyright of the article and are free to distribute, read, distribute and reproduce the work, provided that the original work is cited.
The author's agreed to publish their work on an Open Access basis and in accordance with the Creative Commons License. Authors have published their work under a CC BY license; they hold the copyright of the article and are free to distribute, read, print the work.

Ethics & Disclosures
​
The Syin & Sern Law Review is committed to maintaining the maximum and highest level of integrity and ethics in the published content.
The Review uses plagiarism detection software to detect the submissions. If plagiarism is found, investigations are conducted to ensure the highest standard and integrity of the work. Plagiarism is considered as serious misconduct and breach of publication, journalistic ethics and is followed by different sanctions like suspension, penalties. Syin & Sern is not a member of the Committee on Publication Ethics(COPE), however, the Review follows the guidelines laid down by the organisation.

Conflict of Interest
​
The Syin & Sern Law Review requires all its members, editors, reviewers, authors to disclose the conflicts of interest that may be present and inherent in the submission. Personal, academic, intellectual, financial relationships are considered as conflicts of interest. These arrangements must be disclosed in cases of conflict of interest. Reviewers, editors will disqualify themselves with the manuscript where they believe that they are involved in a particular conflict of interest. If a potential bias prevails, the editor, the reviewer will disqualify themselves from handling the manuscript. If a potential conflict of interest exists, the same will be disclosed in the footnote and at the end of the published work.

If authors, reviewers, or editors have recklessly or deliberately failed to disclose the potential conflicts of interests, they may receive sanctions from the Syin & Sern Law Review for a certain period of time.
